The most engaging factor measured in this experiment was definitely the "Personal Comments" section on the weekly form every participant filled out twice. These comments helped me understand the context behind some of the results. While I can't make this blog 50 pages by including everyone's comments, I will share sample comments, which includes one participant from the control group and one participant from the experimental group.

Control Group Sample Comments:

Week 1, before wash: “It's a little greasy and has uneven creases where I wore it in a ponytail which I don't care for, but it is bouncier than usual this week”

Week 1, after wash: “Feels more flowy which is soothing. However, it does have a little extra static.”

Week 2, before wash: “Feels a little thin and brittle today.”

Week 2, after wash:“My hair is feeling more bouncy and voluminous”

Week 3, before wash: “It is super fluffy today, but the roots are more oily and less voluminous than usual”

Week 3, after wash: Feels a little dry and brittle today towards the end.

Week 4, before wash: none

Week 4, after wash : none

VS.

Experimental Group Sample Comments:

Week 1, before wash: “Been trying to use less heat, and using heatless curls methods. Feel pretty satisfied about my hair, but not thinking too much about it. I think my hair looks alot healthier than usual.”

Week 1, after wash: “I have less hair loss recently which is a good sign I think, but my hair isn't as shiny as usual. I love my hair, but wish it was thicker.”

Week 2, before wash: “Hair feels nice, put it in alot of slick back hairstyles this week”

Week 2, after wash “Hair feels nice, put it in alot of slick back hairstyles this week, insecure about my thinning at the hairline”

Week 3, before wash: “Hair feels nice, and soft”

Week 3, after wash “Hair feels very soft”

Week 4, before wash: “Feel satisfied with my hair recently. Looks a bit fuller even while super greasy.”

Week 4, after wash “Feel satisfied with my hair recently.”

These samples represent most of the comments from each group. The participant in the control group experienced normal, random changes/differences in their hair per day. The participant experienced a lot of dry, fluffy, and brittle textures on their hair. The participant in the experimental group mentions some negative reviews, such as less shine of hair. However, they do repeatedly mention how much softer and how less hair loss they have, which is a strong indicator of healthy hair. They also mention the satisfaction they feel with their hair, which largely influences their self expression with the way they can wear new hairstyles and confidence.
